The Certa Service team enjoyed a wonderful night out, taking a step back in time with the British Gas Lamp Guided Tour, expertly hosted by British Gas Lamplighters team.
It was fantastic to learn more about Dickensian London while wandering the historic streets, illuminated by the warm glow of gaslight. London still has 1,300 original gas lamps that continue to light parts of the city today.
Our expert guides were Joe Fuller, David Moody, Paul Doy, and Stuart Cameron, who gave us a history lesson on gas lamps. There were also fascinating tales and facts, covering everything from Oliver Cromwell’s head to the history of the lions at Trafalgar Square.
The tour was very kindly donated as a prize to raise funds for The Hospice of St Francis. The Lamplighter team volunteers their time to run these tours. In addition to donating this tour to The Hospice of St Francis, they are also raising money for the Heads Together Charity.
