Is your Gas Safety Certificate (CP42) up to date?
The law requires the employer at any place of work to ensure all gas equipment, pipework and flues under their control are maintained by an Gas Safe Registered engineer. Our gas engineers are certified and accredited to help keep your certification up-to-date.
We can inspect your commercial catering business and help you to achieve the required standards. Our engineers are also able to issue CP42 commercial catering gas safety certificates where appropriate.

Frequently asked questions
If you’re not sure where to start, here are some questions we get asked a lot.
-
Why is a Gas Test Needed?
A Gas Safety Inspection is needed to ensure that all your appliances are working correctly and to make sure there are no leaks. Leaks will mean harmful gases like carbon monoxide are escaping into your kitchen and can seriously harm your staff. Gas Safe Certificates will also be needed for your records.
-
Can you arrange a Gas Safe Test and certificate?
Our commercial catering gas engineers are fully certified to carry out testing and are familiar with all issues surrounding commercial kitchen gas safety. They will ensure that all your equipment fully complies to regulations to keep you and your staff safe.
-
How often is a Gas Safety Test required?
This is required every 12 months. A new certificate will be provided following each test which will be valid for the year.
-
How long will a Gas Safety Test take?
This depends on the size of your kitchen and how many gas appliances you have, however we would always set aside a couple of hours to make sure the engineer has time to complete all of his checks and write up all paperwork while he is on site. They are best completed in a morning before the equipment is in use.
-
When will I receive the Gas Safe certificate?
The engineer will leave a copy on site with you as soon as he is finished, this will be a hard copy for your records. A copy of that certification plus a Certa Service Certificate will also be emailed to you following his visit, so you also have it electronically.
